Most people would probably take the fight with Iron Mike than put themselves through 100 miles. Seriously. I play hockey with an ultramarathoner and he's been pushing me to try Pacific Coast Train Runs races www.pctrailruns.com. They have races as short as an 8k and as long as 100 miler. This type of circuit could help you build up to the big one.
