Wrist and should pain are very legitimate concerns with push ups. I've never used the Push Up Pro but it seems like it would alleviate some of the stress on your joints. You are still doing a push up with it so I wouldn't consider it cheating. Push ups from your knees aren't cheating either. If you get the Push Up Pro let me know how it works for you. Make sure they have a money back guarantee in case it's hype!

I can only do 10 girl push ups. I find it usually hurts my wrists or shoulders. What do you think of the "push up pro" for helping with this? Or am I cheating?

Did you ever do any research on the brace? Something like that would be really helpful in the hospital/rehab setting. I too did my grad research project on chronic stroke survivors. I think it's one of the best examples of how the body/brain learns movement patterns and how muscle groups work together -fascinating stuff.

Patrick thanks for all the advice - I did not think about strengthening the anterior tib-I've been massaging it, but not strengthening! He tried shoes with inserts made for his flat foot/overpronation (which he is) and that definitely helped some. And you're right his calves/hams are tight! We'll have to add a little PNF gastroc/ham stretch in before and after running. Thanks!

Ryan,

Thanks.....October is ACS APFT month, so I'm going to give this a whirl since push-ups are traditionally my weak event. I'll let you know how it goes.....

I forgot to mention that whatever spots are still available after general public registration the following day are put online (on Active.com until Athlo launches our own race registration feature), until they are sold out.

My guess would be the time, effort and money required to organize an Ironman. Think about the cost of closing roads for 20 hours and also having enough volunteers to be on the course the entire time. We will probably see more Ironmans offered in the near future but the major ones will still sell out fast because of the limited number of entries. Which one are you signing up for? :)

Why aren't more races being organized if the demand is there? Perhaps the half ironman is more manageable from a logistics and duration perspective. The full ironman results I've reviewed have stragglers coming in close to 20 hours, more than double the time of the pros.
